As a few of you know, I work out at Edwards AFB. My job out there puts me into contact with a lot of interesting people on the base.
Over the past few days, I have gotten to know the curator (Frank) of the Little museum we have on base. We got to talking, and I found out that we are both scale model builders. So asked him if he might need any models built at this time. Well it turns out Frank does!
Frank wants to make a mock up of a new proposed gate guardian in 1/72 scale to present to the museum foundation, and ultimately, the base commander. So he asked me to build the models for the mock-up. The gate guardian will be made of three aircraft, two t-33’s and a YF-94.
So here is where I need your help. Would you please check in your stash, and email me off forum if you have a 1/72 T-33 kit you would be willing to sell me, or a 1/72 scale F-94. If I cant find a F-94 kit, another T-33 (or P-80) kit would also do. We already have one T-33, so I just need two more.
Unfortunately, he has asked me to just build up the aircraft, and paint them silver, so I won’t get to do a full blown museum piece…This time…
I really wish that were the case, but the only kits I have been able to find on ebay have been the old monogram 1/48 P-80 kits. So far, I have found nothing on the net in 1/72nd scale. That is why I posted on this board hoping some one had a few.
Sword released their 1/72 kit today. I checked Squadron they don’t have it, but Hannant’s does. You do some checking at some of your favorite internet shops. Don’t know about the F-94. Good luck.
Emhar did a 1/72 F-94C, but that’s a bit different in dimensions from an F-94A. A T-33 would be a better start. Hasegawa did a 1/72 T-33 also, but that was some time back.
I think I may have tracked down three Airfix P-80 kits. Deans Hobby stop in Michigan has them. I found the add in the back of this months Fine Scale Modler of all places.
