I need some help: DML Fw-190

I found this kit in my garage under a pile of garbage, and decided to find the rest of the parts and build it. I’ve already started some work but have run into some problems, mainly with the wings. When I started, I glued the wheel well into the lower wing. after it dried I test fitted the top sections before gluing them on. The right fit fine, but the left had a huge gap in the leading edge near the root. I finally managed to get part of the lower wing loose from the well and bring it up to mate with the top. Has anyone else had this problem? Also, the fit of the wingroots is HORRIBLE! I need to adjust the dihedral some, so a little leway is nice but that is riduculous. The lower wing assembly rakes back and includes some of the belly, but when viewed from the top it sticks out past the fuselage fairings quite a bit. Should I sand it to mate with the top? From what I’ve heard the DML kits are supposed to be the greatest 190 models on the market so I want to do it right. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve built 6 or 7 of those kits, and that is a problem area. (along with the fit of the cowl) When I assemble that kit, I don’t glue the leading edge of the lower wing to the wheelwells. I glue the wing tops to the fuselage, and when dry, attach the lower wing. Leaving the leading edge of the lower wing at the wheelwells free allows the leading edges of both wings to fit. When you get to the cowl, dry fit, sand & repeat. Hope this helps. Good luck ! Here’s a pic of one of mine.

Thanks for the info. Your bird looks pretty sweet!
