I haven’t been this ecstatic about a kit in a very long time! I just got it today from Sprue Brothers and I couldn’t believe all the parts I saw when I opened the box. I read all the reviews there was to offer but it’s not the same until you see it yourself! The engine parts and it’s mountsare beautifull! The Cockpit is great!
With a Hasegawa 1/32 Hellcat and now this new Wildcat, I just gotta get that 1/32 F4U-4 from Trumpeter to complete my US carrier fighter collection in 1/32!
I saw one at opened at the local shop. I can testify to the impressiveness of the engine detail. But this model comes with a cockpit floor which I believe is incorrect; at least I thought that’s what I heard.
Enjoy your new kit, lots of rivet detail from what I have seen. Have fun![:D]
I think it’s correct! The instruction manual clearly shows a solid floor but this must have been a left over printing from the previous kit before this retooled version . This kit has the open floor cockpit ! I’ve compared it to various resin correction kits made for the 1/48 Tamiya kit and it looks right. You could cut out some of the centerline portion of the floor part (A27) to get it more accurate but with the stock part you’ve got the openings to look down through the belly windows!
I’m a strictly a 1/72 scale aircraft modeler but my eyes are giving me problems already. Maybe it is time to move to 1/32 with the Trumpeteer Wildcat for a start.
