I love Model Master Metalizers!!

They turn out looking really great!! I’ve never tried using Alclad II, so i can’t comment on them, but the Metalizers are really worth every penny. But the downside is that they are very fragile.

I’ve had good luck with them, after I learned the hard way how fragile they are! I do have some Alclad II to try out though!

Here in Perú Model Master and Humbrol are the only brands that you can find in the model kits shop (there are only four model kits shops, in Lima and I think, in the whole country)… so I only bought Model Master metalizers… mmm… they’re pretty good, specially these labeled “for airbrush only”, I don’t have an airbrush, but they can be applied with a brush… and I like the finish… I’ve had some trouble with the Japanese metallic blue, but maybe I have to stir it better (LOL)…

LOL. You brush paint the ones labeled Airbrush only? That’s interesting… They are meant to be airbrushed, and they turn out really well when you do. So it actually works when you brush them on?

They look great as long as you don’t have to handle them or mask over them. I’ll stay with Alclad.

Alclad II for me. Tough stuff.

Tanky I have often brush painted MM Metalizers on small parts such as exhaust stacks and other little bits and pieces without any problems. Anything larger and I would definitely air brush.

So it would be OK to touch up a tiny missed spot with a brush?

I brush on metalizers on landing gear, exhaust turkey feathers, engine parts, afterburner cans, etc. I use an air brush on larger surfaces. The results with an airbrush and a hand brush will be somewhat different in density or opacity, so if you touch up an airbrushed surface with a hand brush, you will probably be able to see the difference.
The “too fragile” problem can be easily overcome by spraying on a coat of Future after the buffing is done. The paint is essentially impregnable at that point. If you try to hand brush on the Future you will probably streak the metalizer.
Alclad and MM Metalizers are two different ways of achieving the same end result. Both are good.
