to that end i have begun another that i have never done before.
the hasegawa p-47d-25 in 1/48.
the ip. i used the decal for the ip, the white is quite a bit bright but it stays now.
and all together …
now to get the pit in and the fuse closed.

Nice work on the Jug’s pit. Alclad does give super results, but I normally use Model Master metalizer enamel with pretty good results too.

this one will be alclad. which is a first for me. i have completed the painting btw. although it was a bit rough. i sprayed a primer then used krylon fussion gloss black. i had a pretty good coat on but got greedy and went to “touch up” the coat. disaster struck. i ended up stripping and then repainting.
todays update:
the nmf is now on. i used alclad polished alum. and then picked out some panels with mm metalizer steel, with the flying surfaces as silver. still not the smoothest i have ever seen but seems like when paint is stripped you dont get the best finish the second time.
the decalling is next. i hope that they sit well on the finish. or should i future the build?

Hey Joe,
I have a little tip buddy. Next time, wash the model surface with some dish soap and water, get her squeeky clean and DRY. Then, just prime with Future. Once the future is cured, hit it with the Alclad II. Perfect every time! no gloss primer to fool with…

I 2nd crockett. Just using future as a base coat for alclad works very well.
As far as the decals over the alclad or future first then decal, you can go either way. Personally, I like to future the alclad, then decal, then seal with another light coat of future.

steve i had thought about that. i had read things both for the black undercoat and the future undercoat and went with the black hoping for a deeper look to the finish. i am pretty happy with the look. just wish i would not have messed up the first one.
