I Have been Inspired

While surfing the web on a totally untelated subject, i came across this dandy little web site…www.iiaf.net

Just a quick peek revealed a huge amount of information on Iranian aircraft used prior to and after the Islamic revolution. All kinds of stuff…serial numbers, unit patches, and photos of a/c in action.

Has anyone built any of the birds that IIAF used in their livery? The colors seem to be pretty much the standard sand, brown and green. But if anyone has FS color info they wouldn’t mind sharing, that would be immensely helpful.

I guess ive doen it again, now i have to decide which airframe to model, Tomcat, Phantom, Freedom Fighter, the choices are many.

Thanks in advance for any help.

havent much of a chance to look at it right now, but i do like the birds on the start page.

thanks

joe

Thanx for the site.

It is so odd to see our aircraft in Iranian markings. I do know of part of the history. Hey anyone know of the colors for the Iranian Air Force, I would like to build one of their Phantoms and maybe even a Tomcat. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Nice site by the way. Some cool images are included.

OH MY!! being the cammo junkie i am and having a itareli F-5E tiger II sitting right over there in the build pile…i’m definatly feeling it boys!! thanks for the cool sight my friend. is that green? i see sand, brown, and a very dark color. later.

If I had an F-5 sitting around, I’d almost be inclined to try to find any info I could about the Iranian air forces’ aerobatic team. I believe it was called “The Golden Crowns of Iran”.

The aircraft had markings similar to the Thunderbirds, only in Iranian flag colours, and an image of the Shah’s crown on their tails.

There was a recent article on ARC about them I forget who they were from. Let me see if I can find the post and I’ll put it in another response.

Outstanding!! Thanks for the site info, man. A cammo Tomcat. Too cool.
It’s always interesting to see aircraft in unusual livery - I’m currently building a 1/48 Sea Fury in the colors of the Iraqi Air Force. I’m building it for a guy who has a friend in Perth whi has a real one (well, two actually).
Thanks for sharing.
