I have a tire question

Can you make vinyl tires look flattened? I know you can make them look used which i am also going to do. Perhaps using a warm surface?

I have used the hot air gun method before. Practice on a couple of scrap ones first though. It isn’t hard but there is a learning curve.

I did it just like this guy:

Haha, i just watched that video. Yes, it seems like a good technique.

If you use hollow tires then you can have the bead broken away from the rim as well. Just squeeze them in while still warm

I’ve tried using the clothes iron once on solid vinyl tires. It turned out somewhat reasonable. Just make sure it’s not too hot and you use parchment or wax paper between the iron surface and tire. Removing melted vinyl from the iron surface isn’t easy. Same warning applies for making grilled cheese sandwiches using the iron. :sunglasses:

This one just wasn’t kept level when melting, hence the bottom isn’t quite flat.

Thanks guys! These are all good suggestions to make our vehicle builds more “seasoned” & realistic.
