Hurray for Testors Dull Cote

I tried Testors acrylic clear varnish and had to remove all paint with oven cleaner and start painting the model all over.

But the old trusted Dull Cote (nitro) never fails and works perfect.

I’m a bit confused, cause you said hurray for Testors, but said you had to strip the paint after using it. I was just wondering what it did to make you have to strip it down again, as I have the Testors Acryl gloss, and dull, but haven’t had any problems with it. Were you putting it on an Acryl finish or over an enamel finish? I just want to make sure I don’t make the same mistake.

I think he means that the ‘acrylic’ clear messed up, but the ‘dull lacquer’ went on well. I use the dull lacquer all the time and it’s never failed me yet.

The dull lacquer works great. I was using acrylic dull coats and always had inconsistent results. I’m converting to the lacquer stuff.

ya its good, bit of advice

i was in a hurry and forgot to put a coat of clear over my decals before putting on the dull coat and it burnt my decals and some got messed up a little
