Hummer

Does anyone know where I can get the same model hummer that they used in “Blackhawk Down”? I would like it to be 1/35 scale. I’ve seen a few hummers, but I don’t know if they are the ones that they used in this mission.

Italieri makes it, but if you can’t find it you can buy a different one and modify it… that’s what I did with mine… if you need more help, let me know

try the Tamiya Hummer the M1025

Only Academy and Tamiya make the M1025 HMMWV. The Italeri kit is the TOW equipped M1036. The M1036 is just an M966 TOW HMMWV with a winch.

Incidently, the Academy M966 kit is a better buy than their M1025. It is the same kit and includes the machine guns and hatch for the M1025 as well as 3 figures (driver, passenger, gunner). The M1025 kit only has the gunner figure.

Does anyone make a Hummer kit in 1/72 scale ?

Hey thanks for all the help!

I saw the M1025 HMMWV and I like it a lot. The M966 TOW HMMWV is the same kit though, but with the TOW missile launcher. So I think I will get this as it is the same price with extras.

Thanks for the info Rob.

Yes, Military Wheels (MW) makes them in 1/72 scale. There are several different ones, softtops and hardtops. They run $10-15 and are typical Eastern European models.

If anyone has seen “Blackhawk Down” they might remember the 2-ton trucks that they put the prisoners in. Where can I get these?

I’m pretty sure the actual mission used 900-series 5 tons. I don’t recall noticing whether Hollywood used the deuce or 5 tons. Probably got whatever was available for filming.

Any way:

AFV Club M35A2 2½ ton truck aka “Deuce and a half” kit #AF3504. Superb kit with ring mounted .50 cal and canvas cover.

Italeri M923A1 “Bigfoot” 5 ton truck kit #279. Decent kit with the later 6-wheeled set up, ring mounted .50 cal and canvas cover.

Italeri M925 5 ton truck kit #284. Same kit as above but with the older style 10-wheeled set up similar to the Deuce. Only difference between an M923 and M925 is the front bumper mounted winch. This kit doesn’t include a canvas cover or .50 cal.

Italeri M925 5 ton shelter truck kit #367. Exact same kit as #284 but it includes an optional S280 for the cargo bed. Squadron.com has them on sale for $14.99, great price.

For some reason the Italeri 5 tons have a nicely engraved wooden cargo bed. Unfortunately the actual cargo bed is sheets of steel welded together. Easily fixed or hidden though.
