Hummer Question

Modeling Subjects Armor

To make a long story short, I’d like to make a personalized 1/35 Hummer model for a friend returning from serice in Iraq. Can anyone tell me a) which “version” Hummer is this and b) does anyone make a kit in 1/35?

Mucker,

This is an up-armored HMMWV. The requirement for Iraq is that all HMMWVs in theater or coming into the theater be modified with ballistic shileds and glass. You can see that even one of the antennae has some kind of ballistic protection. I can’t tell you though, if there’s a kit available for the up-armored HMMWVs, though if not there should be soon, or at least a detail set available to add to an existing kit.

Thanks, kielers. So basically I can find one of the Tamiya kits and look for an “up armored” detail set. My scratch building ability isn’t quite where I’d like it to be and since this is a gift for a friend I’d rather go “safe” with a can’t-miss detail set.
