Humbrol acrylics

Hi to all, just wanted to know if anybody has tied Humbrol acrylic range, and what they think of them.

I don’t much use acrylics, so I can’t tell you exactly, but I do really really love their enamels. They make good paint, so I’d say that their acrylic paints are definitely worth a shot. Just grab a tin or two and try them out, that way you’re only out of a couple of bucks if they don’t work for you for some reason. They make a fantastic enamel flat coat as well. Huzzah Humbrol!

I received a couple of bottles in a Spitfire kit I received for joining the Airfix Club. They were fine- comparable to PollyScale. Not enough to make me switch from PS, though. Nice bottle design, though.

I’ve been using them for some detail-painting applications for a year or so now, and find that, with a couple of drops of flow-enhancer, added, they brush-paint very well indeed. I only airbrush acrylics when I’ve no other choice, and since all the new Humbrol acrylics have enamel equivalents, I’ve never airbrushed them. However, I’ve had mixed reports from friends who have tried airbrushing them, mostly to the effect that even when thinned to normal ratios, they clog up the brush rather easily.

Cheers,

Chris.
