Hello all,
I see on my Sexy Snake (please no images) that door spoilers were fitted.
I have a couple of photos but I am interested in how they are fixed to fuselage.
They look as though they are in three sections and fit inside apeture of the door?
Any help would be greatly appreciated…
The spoilers were riveted to the outside of the fuselage forward of the door so it could still be closed without interference.

Thanks Gino!
Are these spoilers a complete retrofit?
Can’t work out if they pick up on the double line of rivets forward of door…
Cheers

Actually Steve, the windbreaks were all unit mods and varied quite a bit. As you can see even in the two that Gino posted, the top RAAF bird has a windbreak that extends farther than the bottom image. Here are some more. In my father’s unit, the 190th AHC, the holes were larger and the winbreak was braced from the front as you can see here on Gladiator 36, one of dad’s UH-1Bs.

This 187th Rat Pack Charlie model from Ian Dawson shows a totally different setup with no braces and smaller holes.

Here is a third version on a Charlie modelf from the Army Avaition Museum archives that shows the larger holes but no braces.

All three of these go farthur down the side of the aircraft than either of the two Gino posted. Bottom line is it depended on the time frame and the unit. But you can clearly get an iea of what’s out there from these. Hope that helps.
