I just got my 1/48 Trumpeter Vigilante today. Been waiting twenty years for this bad boy. I’m just curious, since I know I’m far from the first to get one, how are you others making out with it? Any pitfalls I should watch out for? I’ve already noticed that the decals leave a lot to be desired, and fortunately I’ve got the Zotz set, which is magnificent. But the Trumpeter ‘cals are in the wrong font in some cases, in others colors are wrong (black instead of French blue on the Fluers’ plane’s flashes, which is a major screwup).
Just curious if anyone has any comments on the kit, such as fit, accuracy, etc.
TOM
Hey Tom, I recently got my Vigi and, I have to say the detail is great, especially the engines.! The cockpit needs help though but, word has it that meteorprod.com is planning a detail set for this which I’m looking foreward to as I want to display it w/ open cockpits. Thanks for the heads up on the decals, I’m after RVAH-9 "Hoot Owls as my uncle flew w/ them and was lost 16JAN66 in a night landing mishap on CVA-61
Happy building!! Eddie
My buddy got one, deep pockets, no kids either. It looked nice, maybe I can score one at Hobby Lobby sometime this year at a 50% Sale.
I would absolutely crap if my local HL would do something that radical. (ie introducing new kits)
I have one Tom & it looks great in the box, with the exception of the decals as you mentioned. I haven’t started construction yet, so can’t comment on fit or pitfalls.
Regards, Rick
