I purchased the badger Patriot 105 and it came with a small instruction book
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good book or document on how to use the Patriot, the small book that came with it doesn’t really go into any detail.
Kalmbach sells some how to airbrush books that are a good start. But badger stuff is pretty easy to operate. Thin the paint till skim milk like consistency, load the paint into the hopper, set you air pressure to between 10 and 30 push down the button on top to start the air and pull back top start the paint.
To clean flush the paint cup with cleaner, spray said cleaner through the brush, and if you want to deep clean it take the back of the AB off unscrew the needle chuck carefully pull out the needle and wipe it off and shot cleaner through it then lube your neddle and assemble in reverse order.
If you want basic on airbrushing, you can try this book from Kalmbach. Don Wheeler’s web site is a very helpful resources too. However, the bottom line is practice, practice and more practice. Don has a very detailed review of the Patriot that you will find useful.
For cleaning and maintanance, you can try this video by Ashley Brayson. It introduced the features of the airbrush and gave an excellent tuitorial on cleaning and adjusting the airbrush. It touches on fine details of the airbrush handling found in words in the instruction book. But it became 10 times clearer after seeing the video.
I hope that you did not pay the $99 that you mentioned. Good luck with your new toy. It ought to be better than your old Aztec.
Be careful when you take the 105 apart, on mine the tube shank was screwed in so tightly I couldnt unscrew it by hand so a little help from a padded pliers deformed the end. I have ordered a replacement and also let Badger know of the problem. Clearly Pliers was not the way to go, Dont use any gripping device. maybe one of those rubber cap openers may work. Just a heads up.
