how to use tamiya panel line accent color

Hi,

I am expermenting with weathering techniques on my aircraft and armour models. But, I am having no luck using Tamiya’s Panel Line Accent Colours. How do you prepare the surface? I prime my models and airbrush on flat tamiya acrylics for a top coat should I then spray on Future? What do you remove the excess wash off with – a cotton swab dipped in X20a thinner or something else? Can you use the accent color directly over the top coat of flat acrylic paint then seal it under Future?

Help!

I’ve only used them a little bit, but they behave like a normal oil-based wash. So make sure you have a good acrylic gloss coat on top of the paint, and then the excess can be removed with a Q-tip dampened with mineral spirits.

I agree but when it is said to “Dampen” the Q-tip…that means damp…BARELY wet. Dip the Q-tip in the odorless mineral spirits and roll on a paper towel until it does not leave wetness behind. Anything more than that will ruin the acrylic finish. I know from experiance.
