I assembled a turret with a cast finish. However in filling and sanding the cast finish was lost at the seams.I have read of some people using liquid glue and dabbing it on for a finish then sanding to get the rough edge off. Any advice? The kit I am working on is OOP so I don’t want to mess it up with good intentions. Thanks ahead of time for shareing some knowledge.
The two ways i simulate a rough cast texture is by using Mr surfacer from gunge sanyo . just brush it on then use a stiff brush to dabb it. The other way is to use a dremel bit .

I mix Squadron Green Putty with Testors liquid cement and stipple it on with a stiff nylon, fabric painting brush. Works just fine. [:)]
Get some tester solvent glue and paint it on. It will mar the plastic a little, and then dabb it wif a stiff brush.
Ditto for the most part, I use a regular “flux” brush from the welding dept at the hardware store, cheap and disposable.
The dremel tool is the way to go IMO. I have used it for 5 or 6 different Russian models and it works wonderfully. You can even adjust the depth of the texture as you go with the dremel.
Make sure you use the rounded metal cutter bit. It looks like a drop of glue with nice grooves and edges like a drill bit.
dremel AND glue for super-rough look - and do all the parts seperately before assembly
