How to dispose of waste chemicals?

I am unsure just what to do with potentially hazardous waste.

How should I dispose of waste thinner, putty, acetone, etc.?

Well the proper thing to do, would be to find a local drop off station that accepts these types of chemicals.

You can call you local EPA office to find one, possibly even a fire department, and check with an auto parts retailer such as autozone, etc… They should know.

Pensacola has quite a few and I make a trip every few months, some cities might charge a small to moderate fee…None of ours do thankfully.

I don’t know what happens where you live … but here there’s a toxic round up twice a year for disposal of this sort of stuff.

If you are talking small quantities then you can dump them together in an old paint can and seal it up, then do like the others have suggested; try ‘recyclers’ in the yellow pages, fire halls or garages.
Good luck,
Bruce

Good question dans1120. Where I live there is a drop off point to bring the above mentioned items.

I work in a body shop so what little waste thinners I have I take to work where we have a recycler for thinner. That’s also were I get my thinner for cleaning.
