Hi All, I’m going to gloss coat a Lancaster soon, this will be my first time with an airbrush, before I do so I am keen to see if there are any tips on how best to clean it afterwards? I feel that usual cleaning following acrylic paint use may not be enough!
In the meantime, in my experience, clear coat is the last thing you want to dry in an airbrush.Mostly becuase you can’t see it. So I tend to use lacquer thinner after all clearcoats, just to make sure.
Be looking foward to reading how others clean out thier clearcoats.
Why are you glosscoating a Bomber? Second can’t you just use Future Floor care where the decals go? Painting the whole a/c is not necessary.
If you do, then clean your airbrush with straight Lacquer thinner afterward. Make sure you then dissassemble it and clean the “O” rings and seals with regular soap and water. That breaks the mean chemical residue from the thinner and plumps up the parts for further use.
Remember the better that you care for your tools, the more consistant they will continue to work for you.
Humbrol gloss clear is what I’m using, at the moment I only have acrylic thinners, would that work or is it best to wait until the lacquer thinners arrives?
From what I read, read, think Humbrol Gloss Clear is an acrylic,if so, then your acrylic thinners will work.Just be thorough. As we have said the Lacquer thinner is strong and will clean everything.
