How to beat your Mule, and other stories.

Ya’ll probably thought I had forgotten about my Mule but really had been waiting for a paint shipment to arrive from GMW. Last night I gave my Mule a light beating with some sodium chloride to make a little paint chipping and she went to the paint room tonight (drying down right now)

Work has been progressing on the C-47 build also, most of the basic dash work is finished, I stole a page from the Pixilators book and replaced the nasty trim wheel with the wheel from an Me-109. The throttle levers were sanded off and replaced with some PE levers I made from scratch.

The plastic pieces for the interior are mostly finished as well

The seat belts are from an Eduard set. The front cabin fuselage door has been cut open so this stuff will be more visible when completed. Next I will be test fitting the plastic and working in the lighting system and adding baffles where necessary to prevent light leaks. The dash will be backlit with red, the radio room will be with a light blue/white and the cargo bay will be lit with a white light. As I stated in the last update the landing lights will be operational and the motors will have small electric engines in them.

In other news the Do-217 project has started moving again, no new pictures yet but the engine nacelles have been attached and the last two days have been tied up with layers of putty and sanding dust.

And finally, a web site teaser - the next kit review for this Friday will be Trumpeter’s 1/48 P-40B. Ya’ll be good now.

ya gonna eat that mule matt?!! with all that sodium, ya better watch your blood pressure!!LOL lookin’ good. later.

is that a NMF Me109 ?

Not quite. It has a silver coat over the primer and the salt crystles are attached to that. Then a color coat is applied and the salt is removed leaving wonderful little silver paint chips.

Making good progress on those Swanny. Keep us posted.

Regards, Rick

Both of them are looking great mate. It’s too bad that interior will be enclosed in the C-47. Thanks for sharing.

Looking nice and shiny there Swanny.

You were starting to woryy me with your post titles, first you tell us the mailman has a small package, then your beating mules!!

Can’t wait to see more photos of the 217.

Your mule looks sweet, Saltydog - the salt just tenderises the mule.
