I know that curiosity killed the cat, but I just have to ask what goodies you got for the B1-B, and what scale? I’ve got the 1/72 kit and picked up some Barracuda resin bits for mine.
It’s great to have goals!
Vitamins, exercise and clean living will see you through!
Currently, I’m working on an old Testor 1/72 scale B-2 stealth bomber kit. Fortuneately, I’ve gotten through most of the puttying and sanding of seams without having to throw the damn kit against the wall. This kit is a beast, but I’m trying to stick with it. ![]()
At the same time I’m doing the B-2, I’ve also been in the “planning and research” phase for a second project to be started after the B-2 is done. That 2nd project is a 1/144 scale scratch built model of the proposed, but never built, German WWII Landkreuzer P1500. Plenty of sensationalist garbage fantasy drawings exist on the Net, but I’ll be using Michael Frohlich’s “German Super Heavy Panzer Projects of WWII” book as official reference (Chapter 6, Pages 136-164).
Not familiar with this tank. Do you happen to have any pictures from the book you could post?
Contrary to popular belief, the P1500 is NOT a tank. It was thought of more as a large mobile artillery piece or a large howitzer. There are no official blueprints or drawings of the supposed P1500. Everything about it is pretty much speculative. The book I mentioned is the closest thing that describes any information about it. Any drawings, sketches, etc. that you see on the internet are just fantasy interpretations of what people think it could be like. Below is one fantasy interpretation.
It reminds me of that railway gun the Germans had, but mounted on tracks. Pretty impractical logistically, but will make for one of your interesting, imaginative builds.
You are going to scratch build an entire aircraft?! I have no idea how that is even possible. Can’t wait to see it!
The P1500 was to use the same 800 mm gun that the Schwerer Gustav had. But the barrel would have been shorter at only about 427" inches (35.5 ft) long.
You’re a bit confused. I’m not scratch building an aircraft. After my Testor B-2 bomber kit is done, then I’ll be scratch building a WWII German armor project.
That is an impressive feat! Looking forward to your build log!
Ohhh, you are right, I was confused (fairly standard state for me), but scratch building armor seems only slightly easier than an aircraft. Still Beyond my scope and very impressive. I need step-by-step instructions and I can still mess things up.
Looking forward to following your project.
No whisky while building!
What?!? Who said that? I’m drinkin’ whiskey right now!
Oh! Thank goodness. It is just not the same without modelling fluid on the workbench.
Never! I’m usually just sleep deprived as my bench time is usually end of the night when the rest of the house (wife) is in bed and I tend to go too late into the night.
You aint the only one bud ![]()
Lets be clear, no one has ever said that ![]()
Usually about 3 projects at a time.
Mostly one, but I overlap. When one project is near the end and I’m waiting for body paint to dry etc. I start engine or frame on the next project.
