Personal example. I have 11 of the Starfury kits from Babylon 5. I love the wing art ( along the lines of “nose art” on modern airplanes, for those non-fans out there ) and plan to make models for all the different designs that I like, along with a few custom-painted ideas of my own.
And I’m not EVEN going to mention my Valkyrie/Veritech ( from Macross ) collection…
Anyone else had this particular type of obsessive Grand Scheme? At what point would you consider it to be getting ridiculous?
I couldn’t even find my way back to “normal” with the Hubble!
For a collector…when is too much? When you run out of room. Seriously unless you’re hoarding like your other thread mentions I don’t see any limit to your love affair with any type of model. I am starting my little collection of Macross/Robotech models and I’ll build them too but when I cannot feasibly store them or show them without them interferring with other aspects of my life I’ll stop.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with collecting several of one model to make several variations. I’ve done it in the past. Some even collect several Enterprises just to make the different ships in the fleet. Unfortunately, most of us don’t have the room for this. Smaller scales do help.
By the way, have you seen this for your Starfuries?
I have around 30 different kits of Godzilla, but they’re all based on the many variations in the designs throughout the history of the character. I do have three or four different kits of the same design, though.
I am proud of the fact that only three of them are unbuilt!

Kugai: Can you tell me please where you were able to get the kits of the Starfurys please?
I’d like to try a few but cannot locate any.
Thanks in advance.
