How do you get rid of sink marks?

I’m building a Condor 1/72 MiG-25, but it appears that on both sides of the fuselage there are sink marks. One is fairly light, but the other is pretty deep:

I have a very bad feeling that’s going to be visible once it’s completed. Anybody have any advice?

Yeah, fill them with putty…

I see only one sink mark in that jpg, and that doesn’t look too bad, but let’s assume that you’re right about having a deep hole. The question becomes with what do you feel comfortable? Plastic shims? Green Squadron putty? Milliput epoxy? You pays your money and takes your choice.

if it’s a flat surface and if i am in a hurry i’ll fill it with medium thickness cya and hit it with accelerator. i then paint it with silver paint and start sanding. when i think i am done i do the silver paint thing to see if it needs moe work, which it usually does.

After the first coat of primer or silver paint dries, if you need to do still more sanding (usually the case for me), once you’re finished, before the second coat of primer, check your work with a cotton swab (I prefer to use those “cheapo” cotton swabs with the soft plastic blue or yellow sticks that you get at the “dollar” stores in boxes of 600; they leave less fibers than the real Q-tips). Dip the swab in water, squeeze out most of the water, then brush the area with the damp swab. The thin film of water shows if you need to do more sanding, then quickly evaporates.

Punch out a styrene disc with a paper punch and use some liquid solvent to adhere it into place. Let it cure then sand it to shape. Repeat with another one if necessary. Use plenty of solvent to fill weld the recess. A little glazing putty or Mr Surfacer afterwards if necessary to feather.
