how do you display your models ?

Approaching maximum styrene density Captain !

This is most of the collection in an inherited “lawyer’s bookcase”. There’s a glass door that comes down over the front of the case. The shelving was thrown together from some spare plywood.

Got mine in these display cases…Jerry

Same here - thank god for IKEA and their wacky products…The day they started selling these in Australia they had them for $100 (down from $180) and i got the very last one in store (out of 2700 apparently - they said it was insane that morning).

Its def a great way of displaying your best models without them getting dusty. The down side is you only have 3 shelves plus the base, although I recently completed a 1/72 Hasegawa “Red Rippers” F/A-18F Super Hornet with its wheels up and will be suspending it from the light fixture hole in the top of the cabinet with light fishing line.

Greg,

Let me just say - you’ve only been building for 5 months??? Those models look fantastic, i’ve been at it for 11 months, and have nothing as good as yours to show for it… Your T-Bolt looks great, very impressive.

As for my display, i don’t have a lot of room, so mine are displayed on a homemade bookshelf in the garage (next to my modeling bench). At the moment though, it’s pretty bare, with only 6 completed models [:I]

Thanks for such kind words but … my kits are far from perfect and I know it [:)] but they deserved a good treatment so , I plan to do a nice display. I do modelling for relaxation purpose (besides I love aircrafts since I started realizing what those flying machines were) so I do it anytime I feel stressed out - pretty often lately [:)] and it works for me. I do not watch much TV, do not spend time at the bar so … it sounds like pretty good “thing”

When I finished my first one, I was really sad … what next? sitting on the dusty shelf ? They deserved better than this , right ? [:)] so your inspiration (the name of my first Spit [:D] is INSPIRATION) and input is really appreciated.

Thanks a lot Gentlemen !!!

OK Jerry, I am official envious my friend! [tup]

So, I finished my DETOLF cabinet. Added 4 more shelfs and here it is:

few more 1/4" bars, welded (yes it is a steel cage) and painted with tamiya lacquer. Glass cost me about $20 (4 shelfes) and I think it is a nice display for a small collection like mine is at this point of time. I hope I get one more soom because according to my calclulations, this one will fit just 16-20models of WWII and WWI but much less post war jets [:)]. Jet will be one per shelf, with MAYBE one WWI kit on site (not the MIG23 I plan to build. This monster will take all shelf for itself.

And I’ve been modeling for 50 years (with a few dry spells) and they don’t look as good as Gregs…[BH]

John,

you are very kind [:)] I appreciate your opinion but … I am just a newbie [:)] however I love doing it [:)]. Learning from best here including you John, so donot be so shy [:)] You helped me a lot during last year [:)] and I appreciate it a lot !

I started hanging some of mine from the wall, wrapping a loop of line around the tail and hooking them to a picture hook. I’m going to use a flush mount curtain rod next instead of all of the hooks…this way I can get the density tighter and put less holes in the wall.
