For some or most of us here, we’ve gone to various model contests at one time or another. And while there, we may have won an award for the models we entered at that contest.
THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT HOW MANY AWARDS YOU’VE WON.
THE MAIN QUESTION IS:
After winning an award and getting back home from the contest, How do you like to display them?
Do you put the award next to the model?
Do you buy special picture frames or other accessories to properly display/store the award?
Or is there something else you do with all your model contest awards?
As for me, I don’t have the space in my apartment to properly display all my model contest awards, whether they be trophies, medals, certificates, or anything else.
Everything I’ve gotten I just put in a large plastic tub that sits in my bedroom closet. Never to see the light of day.
Similar here. I keep my awards in a paper bag in a cabinet. I was considering repurposing them into bases for small dioramas - would that constitute blasphemy? That would be better than tossing them out. I don’t have a lot of awards, so storing them is not much of a problem.
For me, it’s the chase that gives me the most satisfaction when entering a contest. I find the thrill and terror of uncertainty to be quite exhilarating. Any award won is just another thing I have to pack to bring home.
I got rid of a bunch of awards but kept the really special ones. First one I every won back in the 70’s. Two IPMS national 2nd place awards and two Tamiyacon awards - and my MSC plaque I recieved this year for an online contest. They are stowed away in the garage but I’m thinking of digging them out. One of the Tamiyacon award winners is long since gone. I stopped competeing some time ago. I would display them next to the model like this MSC award
