This is a picture of the tail end of Eduards Strafer. As you can see in the pic, a piece has been broken off of the fuselage on the left. Unfortunately, it came out of the box like this. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Is the piece missing completely or do you have any pieces of it? If so thatās a head start, otherwiseā¦..
Reconstruction of that piece isnāt impossible but itās going to be a fair bit of work. It doesnāt look like there is internal detail to worry about.
I would use sheet styrene, maybe 30 thousands thick (max), shaping one side to match the break. Then I would score the outside of the piece with multiple lines parallel to the bend, slowly bend it over to close the gap. Once this is fixed and dry, you can build up additional layers of styrene to bulk the piece out.
Once itās a bit thicker than needed, you can sand it to final shap and scribe in any details needed.
Hope this is enough explanation to enable you to fix this up.

Wow. That really is a nasty break. Frozin called it like I would. Looks like itās time to get out the white plastic and hone your scratchbuilding skills.

Thanks for the advice. I know this would be a complicated repair and I just donāt know if Iām up for it. But I got nothing better to do so I guess Iāll give it a shot.

Perhaps a piece of thin sheet styrene stock adhered up underneath the area as a baseplate. Then some Aves Apoxie Sculpt to fill in and form/sculpt would be a good way to go. I had this issue with a Revell U-Boat bow section that was brittle and virtually fell apart on the sprue. Apoxie Sculpt saved what looked like a āno hopeā situation.

Thatās what I was thinking. This may not be too bad a repair after all.

I really think youāll be happy with the results. Once you get this smoothed out, it may be beneficial to use a thin blade to scribe the lines back and perhaps the tip of a needle or brad to dimple the rivets.
