Here’s an interesting article by a couple of editors from the Oxford English Dictionary. Yeah, I’m a word nerd.

Now I didn’t know that about strafe. I think one word that would come to my mind and I think many others is from WW2, Flak. But its surprising how we have picked up words as we go along.
