how big is your collection?

well, as i’m brand new to this game, i have just 2 completed ac, 1 under construction and 4 in the box…i’m finding buying kits addictive, and since internet hobby shops have more supplies than my local shops, i rationalize that i offset the cost of shipping if i buy a new kit when i need a new jar of paint…[;)]

Allright mer ! New to the hobby and already savvy to the trappings ! You learn quickly. Justifying your choices is a necessary part of kit building. Keep at it !

lol…hey pixelater after years of learning how to rationalize that a $100 pair of shoes or a $200 jacket costs just pennies a day if i wear it often enough, lying to myself about the cost of new kits is child’s play! [;)]

84 built and to many setting on the shelves and floors to count but still growing

well during the 80’s I had 369 in my bedroom collection then joined the AF and upon returning I donated them to the Lowery AFB Heritage Museum(now called Wings Over The Rockys Museum) the collcetion contained 1/32, 1/48, 1/72, but now I have restarted a new collection but in only 48, I’ve got about 30 built and another 100 or so in inventory, do to my being back in the AF I’ve haven’t got the time nor space as I did when I was a Kid to build them like a machine do to my frequint moves around the country
keep 'em coming in 48 so I’ll have all of them back

Hey all,
I have roughly about 250 unbuilt waiting for the day that they can shine[:p][:p].
My collection consists of WWII, Korean, Vietnam and present day a/c. But if you look into the dark side of me, you’ll find a few amour pieces[}:)][:p][;)].
I have give or take 40 a/c that are built up and about 10 in different stages of being built(collecting dust…LMAO[:p]).
Come to think of, what I have spent in buying kits, aftermarket accessories, decals and paints, I could of had either a Vette or a H2 in my driveway.
Hope my girlfriend does not read this but wait what am I saying…!!![:p][:p][:p][;)]
Flaps up, Mike

Well I have not done a proper inventory for about three years and then it was at 895 kits unbuilt. In the past three years I have gained about another 125 kits so 1020 kits unbuilt. Of that there are only 6-8 duplicates. Since a Paintball strike to my right eye and a definate loss of depth perception it takes about 9 months to build even the simplest of kits since I always add alot of scratch built details. That is how big my collection is or maybe inventory is a better discription.
Tally ho
Rosie

I have about 100 unbuilt kits in my stash. I have three in progress (Tamiya 1/32 F-15E Strike Eagle that I’ve been working on since February 2001, an Academy Grumman XF5F-1 Skyrocket that I hope to have ready by 15 August 2003, and a Hasegawa F-16C that is almost ready), and about 15 sitting on the shelf completed. I build mostly 1/48, but, if the real plane is extremely large, then I’ll buy the 1/72 kit of it (XB-35, YB-49, B-52, etc.). Most (about 65%) of my stach is Tamiya and Hasegawa, but I also have Monogram, Revell, Williams Brothers, ESCI, Italeri, Arii, Academy, Hobby Craft, etc. My latest acquisition is the Academy 1/32 F-18C Hornet that I was able to purchase for $85, although I just discovered today that Hobby Lobby is having a 1/2 price sale on their plastic kits 11 - 16 Aug 2003, which means I coulda got it for $60 if I could’ve wiated a few weeks. Oh well. Such is the life of a modeler…

Ouch! I have about 120 kits awaiting their day to be loaded onto the workbench to see the light of day and to become a real airplane. My problem is that I have never met a model that I didn’t like. My wife is that way about shoes. I started out again for the third time in 1999. This last time I really did it. I bought an airbrush and compressor. I got back and forth between WWII, Korean War, Vietnam Era and modern day aircraft. My major fetish is for navy aircraft and aircraft carriers. I’ve started to really detail my models with Eduard, Verlinden, Aires, etc, whatever I see that I like. My wife is patient and a great sport.

I have about 60 displayed, another 60 awaiting assembly, and over 100 damaged the last time I moved (2 years ago). Broken wings, broken heart, broken bank account. Oh, well.

i’m also new but already a bit addicted,

i have 3 plane models finished on the shelf and 30 waiting to be built, all ww2-planes and in 1/72.
i can’t await the day when i can order the next one - the Focke-Wulf FW 189 Uhu from Italeri in 1/72 [:D]
Whenever i see a good ww2-plane model which could fit into my collection and my finances allow it then i’m most probably going to order it.

Greetings
Mitchell

if you count the models i built a long time ago, i have well over 20.

BUT… if you count that i srapped and they dont count, i have 9. 8 were built this summer.

This seems an appropriate time to join this discussion, as I have just completed my 100th model. This milestone was marked in style as #100 was the Airfix E-3 Sentry. Now I just need to work out where to put the beast.

I should think I’ve got half as many again unmade kits in the eaves of the garage.

Congratulations, keefo, & welcome to the forum ! What’s # 101 gonna be ?

Wow… I’m not sure!

Lets see, I’ve got a ton of 48th scale WWII aircraft built and a bunch of 32nd/35th helos and lots and lots of armor…

21 FW-190s (every variant and lots of neat paint schemes)
12 P-51s (every variant and a few of the big names)
12 Me-109s (Every variant from the E-1 to the K-4)
4 P-47s (Two D’s, an M and an N)
6 P-38s (Four early ones [Hasegawa] and two later J and L)
4 P-40s (Yes, I still have my Monogram P-40B)
2 P-39s (Yuk!)
2 B-25s (Both B-25H’s. Gotta love that 75mm Cannon!)
3 A-26s (one WWII, 2 Korea)
1 Ki-61 Tony (my only attempt at Japanese aircraft.)
3 Ju-88s (all nightfighters)
1 Me-110
1 Me-410
1 He-219
1 Mistel 1
2 A-20s (1 done as a P-70, the other in D-Day markings)
4 Spitfires (a MkV and MKIX in US, and a MKI and Vc in British)

Armor, I’ve got five M-1 series tanks, 4 Shermans, an M-20 and a few WWII soft skinned vehicles. Oh, and a Bradley too…

Then there are the Helos! Sadly, all of the 48th aircraft are packed up at my parents’ place back in NY. I miss em! (the models that is!)

All of my helos are here. I’ve got three finished and six building…

Well, since my last post, my stash count is up to 106, with 3 more in-progress (Tamiya 1/32nd F-15E, Academy 1/32nd F/A-18C, & Hasegawa 1/48th F-16C). I actually intend to build all of them. But, I’ve heard of an old saying - the road to hell is paved with good intentions. So, is there where we are - on the road to hell? My bank account seems to reflect that.

Assembled 72 aircraft, 41 military vehicles (can’t really call a 75 mm antitank gun as a tank), dozen or so ships, couple of hotrods (care of my sons) and a couple dozen figures. Have a dozen or so kits (armor and aircraft) in various stages of assembly or finish. The only problem is my unassemble kit collection. I was sitting there the other night contemplating it and almost decided it was breeding when I wasn’t around - Got about 450 of them and unfortunatly Ebay exists (I have finally gotten to where I can go into a hobby shop and not buy anything - Ebay has kits that I haven’t seen in years - - and usually the prices are right) Sure am glad I know how much the wife spent on her garden this year (Has anyone else out there found out what it costs to get a really nice bunch of flowers in the yard?

It’s grown since this picture was taken.

Swanny,

Is that a Quonset hut your models are in? That’s the only building I can think of with a curved roof. Nice collection, by the way. Looks about like mine.

Second floor of centurian house. Here’s the other side of that room…
