how big is your collection?

Just wondering, how big is your collection of finished kits?

My collection contains 53 aircraft in 1/48.

Rutger

My completed collection, that is, the ones I’ve kept, is about 50, most in 1/48th scale. Mainly aircraft, some Sci-fi. Of course, my uncompleted collection exceeds 75 kits. The cabinet I keep the unassembled kits it is much larger than my display cabinet.

I now have 81 completed with 7 under construction. 77 completed are 1/48 scale and four 1/32 scale. Under construction is mostly 1/32 scale and a few 1/48. Just got rid of 48 completed models.

I’m rather new. 12-1:48 WWII and 3-1:72 modern (F14/18.

Uncompleted kits number 9 as we speak.

After having the military move me, and the subsequent destruction of kits as a result, I amashamed to have only 4 completed.

Doom, despair, and agony on me…

Roughly 450 built, 7 in various stages of construction, and 415 unbuilt. We are currently remodeling. It will be the first time since I left the Air Force that I’ll have my own room. The kids are gone, 2 in college and one just graduated from college.

I have around 40 completed, of which around 7 I am happy to display, and the rest I kind of hide. (hanging head in shame)

I have around 225 built, around 25 in various stages of assembly, and a subsantial number left to go-I wont’ be bored!! -Ed

I’ve only built 3 so far… (successfully anyway!) both 1/48 and all revel-monograms. An F-14A (which I scrapped because it looked awful, but now I got a model to test paint on), the Super Tomcat, and the F-15C.

The latter two are in unpainted state, and I doubt I will ever attempt to paint them, so they just sit on the shelf, dull grayish, with putty spots all over them (that’s monogram for ya) But at least I think I’m getting better at it.

32 at 1/72 scale, 4 at 1/48 scale. One more 1/72 scale under construction, and a dozen or so 1/72 scale boxed and ready to hit the bench.

Then there are the ships, but we won’t go there - not right now, anyway. . .

60, aircraft ,t anks ,and shiops in variuse scales

Hi Rutger,

my collection is now 58 build kits and about 100 waiting to be build all in 48 scale ww2 planes. als je zin heb kan je altijd langs komen laat maar wat weten(translation if you wat to visit let me know)

rob

how the heck do you guys collect that many unbuilt kits? I am lucky to have one at a time. I have 30 built and NONE in inventory. Mine are all 48’s, and except for three, are all WWII aircraft.

Huskerguy,
speaking for myself, it just kind of happened!
whenever i see a kit that interests me, at a price i can’t resist, i buy it.
perhaps it’s due to my compulsive nature. perhaps fear that if i wait, the kit will not be available. maybe i am just greedy.
but i never lack for ideas about what to do next!
even when i stopped building kits, i never stopped buying them. and now that i have started building again i can still buy them faster than i can build them.
i have a 1/32 Revell Stuka on the shelf, 1/48 Tamiya Wildcat on the bench, maybe 5 nascar stock car kits in various stages of completion and dozens (but less than 100) untouched kits in the closet.

i blame ebay. almost every kit i want is for sale at a discount!

ed.

about 40, all 1/72 scale and most of them are ww2 aircraft and tanks. And one, Curtiss Helldiver SB2C-1, is under construction.

I hope this doesn’t turn into one of those " mine’s bigger" matches. Remember, size doesn’t matter.

I have 13 x 1/48 WWII built and 3 in shipping transit… these are what I consider my 2nd generation planes which I build within the last 1.5 years.

My first generation which I built around 3-4 years ago amount to another 15 but I’m either throwing those out or giving them away.

I also built 7 tanks

Is there any forum that one can post and view photographs of completed models?

It started out with just USN/USMC aircraft then Tamiya, Hasegawa, Accurate Miniatures and Pro Modeler and their WWII kits came out. To “resist is futile!”

Now I have some variety, from WWII to present everything![8D]

About 180 kits 95% aircraft, 9% armor, 1% ship[:D]

Usually have 5 projects in various stages of construction.

Though I’ve seen some hobby shops er, collections on other sites much larger. I hope to complete these…from this stash![;)]

I am not compulsive but I agree with WildWilliam, if I see a kit at a decent price and it is on my wants list ,it’s in the “shopping cart.” Some times I pick up a kit for the collectability. For instance; a 429 Corvette. The box was printed wrong and many went out on the market before the error was caught. I have a kit listed as a 68 Camaro, another error its a 67. I used to build about 15 kits a year, I documented my builds. Now I do 3 or 4 and that is why the unbuilt side of the hobby has grown in my house.

Hey Rutger, Just 17 @ 1:72 displayed in the old family cabinet
(saves dusting), most, bar 4 early jets, are RAF WWII - i’ve recently added a grass base to the shelves and this sets them off nicely - another WWII fighter under ‘destruction’ at the moment …[:p] [:(!] [xx(] (several recent builds have been for friends so i didnt count them)
