How Big Are 1/144th-Scale Airliners?

Which are the smallest; which are the biggest?

Smallest injection-mmoulded are probably the Airfix BAC-111, Caravelle and Boeing 737, all of which are about the size of a 1/48 P-51D. Largest would be the RoG Airbus A380, which is slightly larger than their B-747-400 and Antonov 124.

Cheers,

Chris.

If you’re asking for measurements the this Airfix 747-200 is 18.5" long. I placed a dollar bill in front of it so you can get an idea of the size:

This Modelcraft L-1011 is 15" long:

I also have an unbuilt Minicraft 757-200 that is going to be about 13" long.

Hope this helps

I’m a fan of the DC-series, from -1 to -9.

I was wondering what kind of shelf space I’d need for a “one of each” kind of display.

Here is the 1/144 DC-3 from Minicraft

Anyone make any scale of an An-225?

Oooo… That’s nicely sized. I like that.

No, but Revell Germany makes a 1/144 scale Antonov AN-124. It looks nice. The best model airliner I have built is probably my Ilyushin IL-86, even though it is not yet done.

1/144 scale aircraft are large to fall off a typical bookshelf, but small enough to make you go blind trying to detail them. My opinion, anyway.

Actually, I like airliners. If only they were of the same quality as the typical P-51 kit…

They can be very, very, small:

but hold a fair amount of detail:

Chris.
