I think Revell is still running the add from April 2006, a good place to check out the bill is www.cybermodeler.com that web site is more on top of the bill then anyother site I know of

And when your done there, please come over to the UK and slap the RAF (TM I kid you not) around until they stop charging model manufacturers to licence the modern roundel and all the squadron insignia.

I’m checking the session schedule and emailing my senators asap. If nothing else, they shouldn’t get to double dip. We shouldn’t have to pay them for the big ones and the little ones.

If any of you guys are Flight Simulation nuts like me, this also affects that also.

I contacted both of our Senators in Nevada and was surprised to actually get a response from both of them (or should I say their offices [(-D]) [tup] [tup]

I emailed both our state senators here in Oklahoma. I hope others that read this do the same in thier states.

Air Master

I also emailed both our state senators here in PA.

Hope it helps

Bud

Subject: Responding to your message

Thank you for your recent correspondence. As your voice in Washington, I appreciate being made aware of your views.

The legislation about which you have contacted me regarding H.R. 4806, Military Toy Replica Act, is presently pending in the House of Representatives. While I do not actively work with House bills that have not been passed, I do find it useful to receive input on such matters. A House bill, if passed, would come to the Senate and could become law. Also, House bills can be precursors to Senate bills.

In any case, the matter with which this legislation deals is important. I believe we should look closely at this. It is crucial that the decisions we make be informed and forward -thinking. If Senators or Representatives ignore issues, either because they are addressed only by legislation in the other house or otherwise, they shirk part of their responsibility, which is to be attentive to the needs of all of their constituents.

Again, thank you for your comments. Please do not hesitate to contact me again.

I want to urge all of you who read this who have not contacted your state senators to please do so ASAP. If this bill fails to pass we will see a major increase in model prices to cover cost model makers will have to pay for licencing fee’s. Please email your state Senator and urge them to support this bill. Don’t let Defense contractors rip us off !

Thanks,

Air Master

So they are finally doing what UP did to the model railroaders. A silly question, all the planes or anything else for that matter, those manufacturers that have gone out of business or been taken over, who owns their products. With UP, they repaint their locomotives and wagons, with the companies they have aquired, the old colour schemes so they can claim the rights to them. How will Boeing go, for example, when they say that a DC-10 is their product? [:(!]

Request c/w (complied with), I sent the letter to both Oregon Senators. [tup]

Not to make light of the bigger issue, but this Jim Inhofe is definitely cut out to be politician [:)]. A whole lotta words that didn’t say anything, nor commit him to a position on the issue. Sheesh. It’s probably the same standard “the matter with which this legislation deals is important” response his staff gives every letter. Our guv’mint hard at work for us!

I agree, Put H.R. 48??? Who Cares in the blank and the answer applies to whatever.

Arki and Gulf, The point of emailing or writing your senator is to make them aware of voters position on HR 4806. I agree the reply didnt say much however he did say…

Which in any case he is now aware of my position on this bill and that I would like him to support it. Our Government gives billions to U.S. Defense Contractors and I for one can’t see any reason defense contractors would need to collect licensing fee’s for weapon designations and nicknames ( ie, P-51 Mustang ). U.S. Defense contractors do not choose the designation, our Armed Forces and Defense planners in the Pentagon do, and the nicknames given to planes and armor are choosen by the Armed Force they will be supplied to.

Bottom line here is models are expensive enough right now, do you really want to pay more for a kit cause model makers will have to raise prices to cover the cost of the fee’s or see another model maker go belly up? I sure don’t!

I got this today…

Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 4806, the Military Toy Replica Act. I appreciate hearing from you and having the benefit of your views.

Please be aware that H.R. 4806 has been referred to the House Committee on Armed Services for further review and consideration. As I am not a member of the House of Representatives, I will not be able to vote on this bill in its current form. Should this or similar legislation come before the Senate for a vote, I will be sure to keep your views in mind.

Thank you again for contacting me. If I can be of additional assistance in the future, please do not hesitate to call on me again.

Sincerely,

Rick Santorum

So who should I talk to now ?

Bud

If I understand correctly, it has passed in the House of Representatives, but hasn’t gone before the Senate yet. I’m not sure what happens next.

Done that also to my two Calif. Senators. Hope it helps out

I saw something about it being thrown in with some defense stuff in a bill up for vote for 2007. I think thats how it was. Government wasn’t my strong suit.

Econ was another story. I understand cost and budgeting well enough. Those defense contractors are hurting themselves and don’t have the sense to realize it. The demand for models will drop off and they won’t make anything anyway. Not as many people will be interested in flying, working, or designing planes. Let’s see how well manufacturers deal with only half or less the number of aeronautical engineers available.

Companies don’t like paying for skilled people as it is. My cousin got layed off from his first job as a chemical engineer and was surprised when he made more on unemployment. He figured it was time to move on anyway when he realized that.

I just got this in my email today and thought I would post it…

Thank you for contacting my office regarding your concern.

I appreciate your taking the time to bring your views on this important matter to my attention. As a United States Senator, it is essential that I be kept fully informed on the issues of concern to my constituents. Be assured that I will keep your thoughts on this issue in mind as the Senate considers future legislation. If you have any further questions on this issue or any related issue, please visit my website, http://specter.senate.gov .

Sincerely,
Arlen Specter

Anyone see the “blah blah blah. Don’t bother me with this drivel” in that response?
