Hometown Hobbies Order - Delivery issues

I ordered a model from Hometown Hobbies, in Louisianna. That alone spells trouble since it was after Hurricane Katrina tore through. But, the order shipped via US Postal Service Priority Mail on Oct. 18, and there were no records of mail holdups due to storm troubles, per the USPS. I have not seen the model yet, and the USPS doesn’t feel obliged to look into the issue until 14 days has lapsed.

I ordered another model that shipped Oct. 22 US Postal Service Priority Mail on Oct. 22, out of Arizona. I received this model Oct. 24 no trouble.

I am in Washington State.

My question… Has anyone else ordered from Hometown Hobbies recently? Do there seem to be any patterns of lengthy delays in shipping due to the US Postal Service?

Am just anxious to get my Morser Karl…

I’m not sure if I’d stress yet, it usually takes 5-7 working days seemingly to get something. It of course does vary between businesses. Sometimes Greatmodels is quick, other times slow. It probably is having problems getting from A to B or whatever before it ships out to you. Yoo bad you don’t have a tracking number. Good luck.

Actually I do have a tracking number. USPS does not show tracking of such items except to signify “shipped” and “delivered.” There are no details available in between.

Your headline should not imply problems with Hometown Hobbies, they got the stuff in the mail and posted. Just passing through, someone would reasonalbly think there are issues emminating from HH’s behavior. A fair and honest person would go back and retitle this thread.

[#ditto]

The faults of the Postal Service cannot and should not be laid on Hometown Hobbies doorstep. I had a similar problem with an order via USPS and Canada Post. USPS tracked the package to the border and CP could track the package to a particular sorting facility. I suggest leaning on USPS to see if they can’t do the same.

I believe my message was clear and concise. The only thing it states is that I ordered from Hometown Hobbies. I have no issue with the company, and do hope to do much business with them based upon my receiving my first order.

The bulk of the message, beyond the first statement of ordering from Hometown Hobbies, is tied directly to the US Postal Service, to the Hurricane Katrina event, and all the questioning is on that.

It simply asks if anyone has ordered from this company, followed with a clear tie-in with the delays “due to the US Postal Service.”

Is it really that hard to read?

Hometown Hobbies, the gentleman I have corresponded with there, has been very informative in both e-mail and on the phone. Never once did I even mean to imply anything except to get an idea whether others ordering from them are having delivery issues. Delivery issues have nothing to do with them, except to tie in geographically with that area and seeing if there are delays others here might have had in placing recent orders, despite the US Postal Service’s claim that there are no current problems in that part of Louisianna.

Read, and grasp the language.

Oh… Tigerman, BgRig, thank you for the suggestions. Much appreciated, and this message isn’t directed your way.

I do grasp the language quite well, thank you. The headline reads “Hometown Hobbies Order-Delivery Issues” implying the issue is with HH, not with USPS. Someone passing through would reasonably assume your issue was with HH while the rest of your post goes on to vent your frustration with the postal service.

Mail service is a crap shoot but normally very reliable-things do ‘happen’. I deal with Squadron a lot and sometimes my shipments just don’t show up-but I am not charged for them. It seems that if they don’t have in stock they don’t ship it. I would check first with your credit card company to see if you have been billed-if not-they were out of stock or you slipped through the cracks. Usually a polite email or phone call (or 2) will clear things up.

Which is exactly what I thought when I read the title. After reading the post, I realised your gripe was not with HH.
But, as AJ says, to the casual passerby? It looks as though your problem is with HH, not USPS.

hmmm, alright, will try this again. Please forgive me for not being more clear on the subject. Any offensive imagery of Hometown Hobbies is unintended, and I sincerely apologize to Hometown Hobbies for any unintended damaging portrayals of their company on my part.

The item shipped, verified by the US Postal Service, by Priority Mail, being scanned Oct. 17, 2005, and shipped (picked up) Oct 18, 2005.

The item is in the US Postal Service’s possession (in theory, and per the USPS tracking system).

My question is, has anyone else ordered items from Louisianna-based companies, that have been shipped USPS Priority Mail, that are over a week since being picked up by the USPS, and still not received?

If I were a betting man, I would bet that it IS a USPS issue and they are not admitting to it.
Due to the fact that it was shortly after Katrina and nothing else seemed to be going as planned. What makes the USPS any diiferent than anyone else.
As I said, I think the USPS has screwed up and are not going to admit it. They’ve done it before when the weather was just great!!!
November 2nd, is not that far off. Then, maybe you can get some satisfaction from the USPS.
Good luck, Aric. I sincerely hope everything works out for you.

Well, da order scanned in “EN ROUTE” in Federal Way, WA (Seattle) last night. I’m guessing by the time it took to travel from Louisianna to Washington state that it must have hitch-hiked.

So, may be here Saturday or Monday.

Now gotta get some other goodies to go with it and go dio.

Glad to hear it finally made it to Washington state.
Have fun on the build.
