has anyone seen whats in the box of hobbycrafts f94 starfire kits?. are they true 1/48 scale kits? i got lindbergs kit and it was not even close to 1/48 like was stated on the box, more like 1/72.threw it in the circuler file, dont want to waste any more cash. i can add detail but i want a kit thats really 1/48 thankyou for any help you can give me. wendell
I have a Hobbycraft F-94B in my stash. It looks to be a decent kit. Not excellent, and not terrible. I have seen one built up and that one looked pretty nice. The outlines and details are reasonable, but i have no scale plans to compare it with.
Thanks for the heads-up on the F-94. That one’s missing from my build group of “out of my past experience aircraft.” I actually built that Lindberg thing - I’m not sure why. It is a piece of junk with so many rivets hanging out, that in real size I doubt that it could overcome the drag to get off the ground! And you’re right - it’s certainly not 1:48.
The F-102 was fairly large, but it sure wasn’t this much bigger than the F-94!

Too bad you trashed it. I would have taken the wings for another project. Almost all Lindberg is crap. They have very few decent kits and what they do have worth building is usually somebody else’s mold.
That old Lindberg kit is old and crude for sure! It’s in the ever popular 1/58th scale. The old Revell F-94C kit from back when was in 1/55th scale.I remember that Revell reissued theirs as part of the SSP program back in the 90’s.
The Hobbycraft F-94 is close to 1/48 scale, and it is one of their better kits for surface detail. I have the A and B versions of the kit. As usual for Hobbycraft the decals are probably not useable and the interior detail is not what it could be.
Here is a link to a build of one.
great news at6 i have not emptied the trash can! contact me at wendelljdalton@yahoo.com
itv63tango,
I have built the Academy/Hobbycraft T-33/F-94 kits they where not to bad but lacking in the office details, but that could be replaced with an aftermarket T-33 cockpit with a few upgrades to make it a F-94 (Just like what Lockheed did on the real thing). As for the decals I know Experts Choice has some great decals to replace the garbage Hobbycraft issued and True Details has the whells & tires set to get the base secured.
