I am planning to buy a Hobbycraft A-10. I forgot the specific designation but I remember it says “home defence.” Has anybody built this kit yet? if so, What are the things I’m supposed to know? Accuracy? Details? Overall quality? Is this a good deal or should look for the Monogram one instead? I am doubting because I am aware of Hobbycraft’s mixed-bag releases. I would appreciate all the replies.
From what I had heard it may be a rebox of the ol Monogram kit.
The Monogram kit is still a good kit to build.
Flaps up, Mike
I havn’t actually seen this kit opened, but based on my experiances with Hobbycraft, I’d say skip it. I recently bought their 1/48th F-111E, I was sadly dissapointed in that offering.
Go for the Monogram Hog. You can pick up just about any aftermarket decals of your choice.
I read pretty decent rereviews about the Monogram A-10 kit If the Hobbycraft is a reboxing, that means it is of equal or better quality right?
No
I do not beleive it is a re-boxing. What it most likely is- that it was engineered off the Monogram molds. This would baisically mean the same part breakdown.
But the honest truth is, I don’t know!
I too would pass on this one and find a Monogram kit. By far, it’s the nicest A-10 in 48th.
The only drawback is that it has raised panel lines instead of recessed. I wouldn’t let this deter you from getting one, though. It really is a nice kit, overall.
Fade to Black…
Thanks for the advice guys… I think I would like to try the hobbycraft this time. The Monogram version will have its day since it is widely available in shops right now, anyway. Or maybe should try to build both to compare… any ideas?
Buy both, check 'em out, then E-bay the clunker!
