I went to the Hobby Lobby website and they dont show any models and such but I am wondering if they do have stuff like that. The reason I ask is that they’re is one kinda close but I dont really want to go out of my way to get there if all Im going to find is pipe cleaners and hot glue sticks. So do they have models, paint and brushes like an actual ‘’ model’’ store?
Can someone tell me what part of country Hobby Lobby is located in? Only chain around here is Hobbies USA or whatever it is. Not geared toward serious builders and quite expensive.
Hobby Lobby carries a good distribution of kits and manufacturers; however stock is hit or miss. They have 1/2 off sales from time to time. I have found 2 Academy 1/32 F18s; Accurate Minature SBDs and B-25’s, and Tamiya tanks & planes. It is not a full line hobby shop but when they have a sale and you find what you want, it can’t be beat.
Hobby Lobby has stores from NM, CO, WY to the east. There are no stores west of this line. Their eastern coverage stops in OH, KY, and NC. There are no stores east of OH and KY or north of NC.
Hobby Lobby has kits, but really just mainstream models. No detail sets, no conversion sets, etc. Really the only good thing is, as said before, the 1/2 off sales. (I got an $80 B-36 for $40! Good deal!) I say, give it a look, but don’t expect anything spectacular!
I just checked the model isle in our local hobby lobby today, and they have re-stocked with some pretty good stuff. they have some Accurate Miniture, Tamiya, and the like on the shelf. They had 2 of the new release Monogram B-29’s for $37.50 (about 6 bucks cheaper than retail here)
The one isle is all the way in the back, and has some hobby paints and tools etc. as well. You might be surprised with what you find, check it out[:)]
Hi Dave…is the Hobby Lobby located in Va. Beach? I live in Newport News and would like to take a trip out and see what they have.
Regards, Dan
They are here in Texas too.
James
They have several stores here in Georgia.
It looks like the closest one to me is in N.C.

This is just an FYI, Hobby Lobby is an Oklahoma City based company.I am a truck driver and have delivered several loads for them.I have personally delivered loads as far west as Denver,Co. and as far east as Columbus,GA and have been to Wisconsin, and MIchigan several times, and to the Chicago area more times than I want to think about…anyway if you have a map of the lower 48 of the U.S.A. a good rule of thumb is to draw a 1000 mile radius from OKC. They are growing at a very rapid rate and should be opening more stores in the near future.Might take a while to get to Brooklyn though. I was told that 25 stores opening this year was what was planned.Hope this helps.
Several Hobby Lobbies in Illinois. As for selection of supplies and materials manufactured specifically for scale model building, you’re better off going to a privately owned (Mom and Pop) hobby shop. Tough to find these days, but every now and then you come across a gem of a shop. If you do find one of those gems, visit it often. Gotta keep these places in business. It’s frustrating waiting for paint and supplies to arrive in the mail or serching forever for alternative products in those massive craft stores. However, you do find some nice alternatives in those places now and then.
They have and are opening new stores here in South Carolina, Check their web site for store locations.

They have em here in Texas and their 1/2 off sales are not bad, Not a bad place to pick up a few odds and ends ( supply wise).

Sorry the one Im talking about is in Cookeville Tn… about an hour out of Nashville. Im going to Tenn. Tech. Univ. for my EE degree. The Hobby Lobby is on the other side of town so I was wondering what it was like before venturing over.
Im actually from Va though, in Scott Co. Thats right across the border from Kingsport Tn, we’re the second most western county in Va. I do have some relatives that live in Newport News though… do you know any Shoemaker’s there?
TransAmMustang – As we say in Brooklyn “Anyt’ing eva’ (eyes shifting from side to side) accidentally fall offa da truck?”
[(-D]…Well Sharkskin, It sucks…but the trailers were sealed when we left the warehouse, and we were not allowed to break the seal until we arrived @ the store, and even then the store manger had to WATCH us break it.Best thing to do if you find one is to get in real good w/ the person that stocks the kit shelves (preferably a female) and when the kits go 1/2 off ask the person to use their employee dicount so that you can get 60% off…[:-,][:P]
i usually go to hobby lobby because the nearest private store is an hour away
I went down there today and they did have a lot of stuff. Much much better than Walmart but not as great as an actual model shop. I was impressed though, they have a great assortment of Revell/Monogram and Tamiya products with some AM stuff too. The AM and Tamiya stuff was pretty high priced (duh) but the Revell/Monogram stuff was definatley lower than normal. They had a Monogram B-25J for $13, a P-61 and P-38 for $11 plus a JU 52 and a PBY Cat for around $20. Their B-29 was $36. I really like most Monogram bombers so I might have to get the B-25. Theyre was also an A6M2 Zero there for 10. Plus the assortment of paints and such was great too!
So when exactly do you find out when they do this 1/2 off stuff? Is there a way to subscribe to something online or do I have to drop by every week??
Thanks for the help with all of this!
Check their website, they always run sales on different things and post what is going on sale each week.
