Hobby Lobby, 50% off sale

FYI

Some of the Hobby Lobby’s not all but some go by the “raincheck” type of deal where if you bought something within the last 2 weeks and they put it on sale you can take it in with the receipt and the manager will cut you the 50% off so you can go get more or get a refund. Something to keep in mind.

Well didnt get to go to HL I was in Bakersfield Ca for a day an when i got back late tuesday afternoon i didnt feel like driving all night i didnt feel like driving another 60miles so i went to Hobby Depot spent $130 bucks but what the heck heres a pic KC-97G $55 the Skyraider $41 and the Flak was $34 Merry X-mas to me[:D]

WOW! How long has Academy had that KC-97 on the market? I knew Minicraft had a 1/144 version, but I didn’t know there was a 1/72 version available. I am definately going to have to chase down one of those. [:)]

The H L in my area is now starting to carry the Tamiya 48th scale armor.

Feels awesome to pick up a 48th Tiger for 10 bucks.

AWESOME!

Just ignore him Eddie. You go right ahead and slap that frisbee on top of that Super Bug if you want! Call it the EA-18Q Super Growler and don’t forget the wingtip AMRAAMs and to replace one or two of the ECM pods with HARMs

(Ever since the Super Bug has replaced the Tomcat and the introduction of the EA-18G Growler (plop!) CH is convinced that within a few years they’ll actually do something like this to replace the E-2. F/A-18E/F Super Hornet - “jack of all trades, master of none”)

Well, all my local HL stores don’t really have any aircraft I really want since I’ve already bought and haven’t built the one’s I like. So, I decided to give a tank a try for the first time. I bought the 1:35 Dragon King Tiger. Holy smokes!! There are a ton of pieces in there! Geez, I never imagined a tank model having so many pieces. If I ever get around to that thing, it’s going to take a while.

I am about to leave for HL, and I am hoping they still have the Academy 1/32 F-16 CG/CJ. It will be my first 1/32 kit, and I am really looking forward to doing some super detailing!!! Wish me luck [:D]

i don’t have a hobby lobby in mass. nearest one is about 900miles from here[:(]

what about the web site does the sale apply to that and if so are the prices on the website before the sale price?

I don’t think so, Durr. If I recall it is a store-only promotion.

I’m in Florida, so I am in the same boat as you are. No stores here. I even wrote to the company several months ago suggesting that they may have overlooked Florida in their expansion plans.

Got a nice email back, but there are no plans to put any HL in Florida, so I just sit here red with envy and read about all you lucky guys and the great deals I am missing.

Hrumph.

Well, I was plesently suprised, I figured either my store wouldn’t be having the sale, or they would be out of what I wanted, turns out that things were going my way tonight [tup] I finally got the Academy 1/32 F-16 and the Hasegawa RF-4B Phantom II for $75! Now, if I had more money, I would have been buying the Academy 1/32 F-18C that I could have picked up for $75! I’m all excited now, can’t wait to get started!

YAHOOO! After two years of hearing about this place I finally make it to one! Picked up the 1/72 Ventura from Minicraft for $7.00…was this a deal?

sorry to say yes and no you saved about a 95cents over most places sale prices

Well, I got to my near-by HL, and picked up another 1/48 Hasagawa P-40E, a Monogram F-117 (1/48), a 1/48 Monogram Photo Recon F9F Panther, and a Polar Lights 2005 Pontiac GTO.

All for $40.00

Not much to chose from, but since the privately owned hobby shop closed a year ago, HL is the only game in town without buying on-line.

I don’t think I’ve paid full price for one of the GTOs yet, thanks to the half price sales.

Thanks Hobby Lobby!

Leon.

How often do they do this sale anyway? I know I have seen it on here before, but if I can do some planning, I can pick up the 1/32 Hornet next time [:D]

Well okay…$.95 difference, thier original proce was $14+/-…then the airline tickets to Albuqurque…but the same kit is on evil-bay right now for $13.00…I figure I did all right

Hobby Lobby used to do the 1/2 price model thing about every 3 or 4 months, but they have been doing them much closer together lately. Some stores have a great selection of kits and others pretty skimpy. Early in the week is usually much better than late. If you go there looking for a particular model, you stand a good chance of being disappointed. I usually go with the idea of finding something I like and then buying that.

Ok, thanks for the info Yardbird! I will have to keep an eye out. I know they have two Academy Hornets in 1/32 I would like to have, but they are asking $150, so I figure half off time, I might be able to pick one up? Again, thanks yardbird
