Hobby Boss 1/350 HMS Lord Clive

This is my first crack at a 1/350 ship, fun but of course I struggle with the PE in this scale. This kit is a fairly recent release and the build is OOB. I do love the WWI era ships and their bizarre shapes. For me, ships need to be displayed in “water” so I knocked up the base.

What a beautiful build. Love your water, the smoke from the funnel…everywhere I look I see more care and detail. Magnificent!

Thanks mate, I think a water base adds to a ship.

My goodness, you killed it for your first one! I’m thinking about embarking on 1/350th Wasp class aircraft carrier and the 1000 part count is a little daunting for a guy who has only ever built 100 piece aircraft. On top of that, I would have no idea how to create your beautiful water base. I’d probably need a year to complete it.

Very nicely done.

Have a look on You Tube for doing water, there are many ways, I use Sculptamold for the base, when it sets, tissue paper applied with water/white glue mix, stippled with a brush to form ripples in the water.

You should teach a class! I would attend.

Truly it does. I like the idea of waterline ships.

I’ve only done it a few times, you will find people better at it than me on Youtube :+1:

Great looking build. I’m not a ship builder myself but the weathering, tonal variations, water and smoke are just great. I agree those old monitors and pre-dreadnaught ships were interesting looking.
