HK Models 1/48 PBJ-1J Mitchell

OOB build, I added EZ line for antennae wires. I made masks for insignia and aircraft number. This is a great kit, goes together well and the keyed locking system to put wings on and off is a terrific idea! Wings don’t require glue to fuselage join.

That is a mighty fine Mitchell you have. I can’t say that I have ever seen one in this configuration with the radar radome on the wing tip like that, but it looks great.

Outstanding build!

How did you achieve the subtle weathering? What’s your process?

Outstanding work Grant! I really like seeing the classic Mitchell bomber done up in the US Navy scheme asa PBJ.

It’s a great kit, no issues :+1:

On the white areas, I primed light grey and sprayed a darker grey through a piece of scourer. Then the the insignia white was applied. On the blue areas, black was used for primer, then I airbrushed white through a piece of scourer again before applying the blues. This creates a random splatter effect like the stencils you can buy for this purpose, but a piece of scourer works better in my opinion and is more random.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it :+1:

Great idea using the scourer pad! I’ve also used cheap furnace filters for the same effect!

Outstanding finish, always find it difficult to make monochrome finishes interesting. You nailed it.

Beautiful B-25, Grant.
