The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is being teased in the movie theaters now (saw a teaser trailer in front of The Life Acquatic a few weeks ago). Of course, it’s just a teaser, but I’m excited by the possibilities.
Anyone have any advance-industry lowdown on whether kits will be available for the ships, like the Vogon vessel?
i have recently scratchbuilt 2 “heart of gold” models, and i wear them to school every day [;)]
Checked out the rumors surrounding the Hichhiker being on screen and a source with the BBC stated there has been work going on for both a movie and maybe a series as well.[yeah][:D] Doubtfull there will be any models though, so it looks like its back to scratch there.

Amazing books!!! I love them. Sci fi isn’t my line though, so I don’t worry about models…
Was’t there a series already produced on PBS years back? And also a BBC radio dramatization if I recall. Classic stuff!
Ah, now Douglas Adams I do know about!..
There was a series by the bbc that ran in the eighties staring Simon Jones and David Dixon as arthur and ford (respectively). The show followed on from the largely popular bbc radio show (adaptations of the first two books) and a few of the cast crossed over with it. The new film stars Martin Henderson (of the bbc’s ‘the office’) and Mos Def in the two lead roles. The original cast of the radio show have also just recorded an all new dramatisation of life the universe and everything (or tertiary phase as it’s called, to follow on from the primary and secondary phase titles that the first two shows were given).
If you hunt around the net there are loads of concept drawings and video clips (including one of the all new {!!!} Marvin suit being tested) http://hitchhikers.movies.go.com/ is an excellent place to start.
Just my tuppence
