Hello and welcome to the forum. Regardless of your experience I think you will like it here very much.

Welcome, there are a couple of other ladies here. Like the others said, don’t hesitate to ask questions about tools or procedures.

They have stepped my builds to more than I would have done on my own.

Well;

Hello Candace. It’s nice to see the ladies get involved. Welcome!

Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the hobby and to the forum, Candace! What are your favorite subjects?

Best regards,

Brad

I love history and scifi

Candace,

You say history and Sci-fi; any particular part of history, and any particular genre of sci-fi?

I like military history, early colonial American history, ancient world history, recently I’ve been researching native American cultures in my area in NC. I just love learning things. As far as SCIFI I am a big fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, I love comic books so tend to revolve around Scifi and horror genres. Right now I have a big tote of military aircraft models that I bought a few years ago that I wanna try putting together, it’ll be a learning process, nothing too difficult Revelle and Monogram kits. I’ve got a P-38 that I’m currently working on to enter in the local fair, so I’ll be finishing up that soon and I’ll start working on the P-61 I have next. Some kits I’d like to work on in the future are: I’d like to try some Star Wars/Star Trek ships I also saw a resin kit for the “techno viking” that’s one of my favorite internet things, lol I’d like to do a railroad model one day of my towns depot and some of it’s historical features There’s just so much things to do!

Great to see you on here! I’m from Walkertown myself but I live in Virginia currently though I come down to visit family every so often. That train depot you mentioned, my great great grandfather was the station master way back and I’ve always wanted to model the station for a HO scale train track. It’s a small world. Can’t wait to see what you’ve done!

If those two are old monogram/Revell kits, be interested in seeing how you whip them into shape. More than one of those has gone sliding down a wall.

Before you tackle a resin kit, need to avoid breathing any of the dust, and plastic glue won’t work. Either CA or epoxy are the common adhesives

Welcome aboard, lots of good folks here. Don’t hesitate to ask or offer advice the more interaction the more fun this place is.

I build…well collect…most anything, haven’t tried Gundam or Anime but I appreciate the talent. Planes and armor are my favorite subjects.

If you’ve never heard of the genre before, you might enjoy Maschinen Krieger kits. The series features armored fighting suits with a blend of futuristic design and WW II German military aesthetic. There are suits, and AI machines-walkers, hovercraft, eg-and the kits are fun to build.

Here is a forum dedicated to the genre, Bryan Krueger’s Maschinen Krueger forum:

And if you use Facebook, there are several groups dedicated to the genre, including the Kow Yokoyama Group. He’s the Japanese artist who created the series. There is a lot of good content in those groups.
