I have only been here a week, and I finally stumbled onto where I seek to introduce myself.
I’ve basically “jumped ship” from another modeller site where I’ve done book and kit reviews and was essentially the sites’ mentor/answer guy for beginner modellers’ questions. Although the other site has an all-American sounding handle, I found you will not feel welcome for very long if you do not speak with a British accent, and frankly I got tired of the rivalry and petty bickering there.
After a week, I find it quite refreshing here.
As for my background, my brief bio is posted with my profile information.
Since I grew up on the West Coast, my favorite modelling subjects are WWII naval, either ship or aircraft, or USMC armor, although I do have a nice stash of the typical WWII German Tamiya armor kits.
Because I retired from doing engineering in the later 20th century, my typing skills are very poor, since the norm for engineering documents up until the full advent of the PC was hand-written.
I do have a general question, though:
How do you guys sneak a photo into your signature box?
welcome to the forums…im also a naval military nut and i mostly build ww1-ww2 era ships…i have a few ww 2 planes to build, but ships are my thing…welcome again!
[#welcome] Glad to have you aboard! I have only been here a bit over a month myself. I don’t know about other web sites but I feel totally at home here, and been well received. Lots of encouragement of my builds! Enjoy!
Cheers,
Eric
Welcome Neighbor! I too am a USN/USMC buff for the most part (former Navy and my father is former USMC/USN himself) mostly WWII for me… I’ve already said hi to you in the Midway GB but welcome aboard all the same!!!
I look forward to seeing your build in the GB!!!

just read your profile and notice you had an uncle that flew in Dauntlesses in WWII, ironically so did I. he was an Aviation Machinist Mate.
