Hey y'all! Just inherited a HUGE COLLECTION of model cars from my father-in-law, eager to learn about these treasures

So, my father in law passed away last year from Alzheimer. He grew up in Argyle Minnesota and one hobbie he had was model cars. I have about 30.

SOME INCLUDE: (my educated guesses on some)

  • COLLECTION of ARNIE ‘thefarmer’ BESWICK '60 DRAG CARS
    +OHIO GEORGE WHITE WILLY
+AUTOGRAPHED FUNNY CARS ((FORCE, ANDERSEN, GARLITS))
+COLLECTION of 1940-50+60’s Chevrolets, FORDS AND PONTIAC SEDANS AND TRUCKS
    +OLD TRACTORS
    +P3 ORION

Any and all info on what I have is MUCH APPRECIATED… AS I AM NOT ABLE TO KEEP THEM ALL as I don’t have the room for them and it’s a bit of income that can change SO MUCH for me.

HOWEVER… I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PART WITH A SINGLE ONE UNLESS IM SURE IVE LEARNED WHAT IT TOOK POP TO BUILD IT, AND in the event it’s something special there are options to be considered if I know the details.
(EX: Very valuable bc of the degree of difficulty and lux material= mine FOREVER
OR
Mod. valuable bc it’s rare but not hard to build= SOLD and without ANY chance of relinquishing something for an embarrassing loss =would make POP proud)

I’m learning, so I hope this 1st introduction of mine is ok, and as I go I’ll learn how best to post the pics of my treasures for my new found tribe of bro+sis’ to tell me what they think

Also, please let me know if you have any suggestions for me in order to not embarrass myself too too much AND/OR TIPS FOR BEING SEEN

Truly,
Mags

One thing I’ve thought you could probably do is contact some other IPMS Chapters/Clubs in Minnesota and ask folks in those chapters what info. they might have on the model kits you have.
Some Minnesota Chapters/Clubs are the following:

IPMS/RPM Twin Cities | IPMS/USA Home Page

IPMS/South Central Modelers | IPMS/USA Home Page

IPMS/Twin City Aero Historians | IPMS/USA Home Page

IPMS/Zumbro Valley Scale Modelers | IPMS/USA Home Page

Minnesota Military Figure Society (MMFS) | IPMS/USA Home Page

Hello and welcome to FSM

One thing to ask: Are these unbuilt kits or completed kits? The value of a kit may go down if they are completed. Just be aware.

After a cursory search for models that fit your description I mostly came across prebuilt die-cast cars. Are the cars all plastic model kits, or are some die-cast metal cars? Also, scale (size) and original packaging will factor into value of any die-cast or unbuilt model cars.
Posting a few pictures, when you get a chance, would help a great deal to get you some more specific information

First off Miss Maggie, I’m sorry for your loss of your father-in-law, Alzheimers is such a terrible disease. I agree with the suggestions of the other forum members about reaching out to some local modeling clubs for assistance. Good Luck.

Pictures would go a long way to getting answers even here. Any IPMS groups would need more info as well.
