When I asked about interest in paper models , I thought it was great . Seems we’ve run out of steam though . It’s a fascinating part of the ship-building hobby . C’mon give it a try , Just once , PLEASE ?

Where from, Mike? One early lesson I learned when I started with paper modeling was where to NOT download a model from, as in pirate sites! They are amazing collections but mostly by: selling other peoples’ designs that were either offered for free, or were being sold legitimately on sites like Fiddler’s Green & ECardModels AND/OR having scanned copies of hard-copy printed kits (as so popular in Europe…)

TankBuilder, just one thought regarding ‘attendance’ here - perhaps folks got interested and went looking only to find the Papermodelers & Zealot forums. I think if Aaron & crew were to get the fellow over on Britmodeller forum (building the 1/24 scale Tigercat) to write an article, there would definitely be some ‘paper modeling interest’ here as fallout.
Myself, I know I am being pulled so many different ways, I’m lucky I get to read about modeling right now!

Do I know that feeling . Being Vice - President of Models and Displays at a museum gets me going six ways from Sunday . I do the paper models to wind down . Started one six weeks ago and haven’t been able to get back to it . T.B.

I agree! Paper ship model building offers many options, including hundreds of ships not available in plastic. And, the builder has the option to print the model in any scale he chooses. For example, I wanted to build the JSC kit of the German battlecruiser Goeben, a 1/250 scale model, in 1/350. I simply photocopied the original sheets at 74% of the original size and gt a nice 1/350 model kit. I used brass barrels for the guns and applied the usual photo-etch details, and I now have a beautiful model that fits well into my 1/350 collection of plastic ships. Paper ship models can look as realistic as any other model.

My LHS is thinking of stocking paper models. They gave me a lighthouse model and i have a guy in my ship club Rocky Mountain Shipwrights, who does paper models so i have this in the queue. They will display it whne i am done.
I randomly picked up two paper planes (Yak-9 and Fw-190) when I was on vacation in Poland. I’ll share progress as I get them built.

Oh yeah, I bought that one too. It’s the recent issue of the modelling magazine known as Maly Modelarz (Little Modeller). It’s on the market since 1957 - backbone of the Polish paper model hobby. This current issue is aimed at modellers starting their adventure with paper models. Both of the models in the magazine are nice but simple and should be easy to build, judging by the looks of it. Some time ago Maly Modelarz brought out a two-issue RMS Titanic in 1:200. Before that there was a model of a HP Halifax british bomber in 1:33 scale (traditional for the paper aircraft) - complete with interior and bomb bay - those are the more complicated models from Maly Modelarz. If you want more detailed models in paper, there are also other companies like GPM or Kartonowy Arsenal - check 'em out on the net. Good luck with your paper builds and have a nice day
