Hey, Space tight? A tool for you.

I probably should start this better;

Nah: to formal that way. All of you have seen the knives offered for sale at Hobby Lobby in different departments. They also have them at Hobby Town-U.S.A if’n ya’ll have one of those. There is a knife I just purchased that works great for applying Putty in tight spaces. It’s by X-Acto. It’s actually smaller in diameter than a number 1 handle!

This knife works great on tight spots on Paper Models. It also works in trimming Wood decks for Special Models you might build. Like the Missouri? There is this. With the angle different than the bigger blades an sharpened on Both sides like a regular blade it works very well for a smooth putty app. in those tight deck detail and deckhouse spots that have sink marks .

Those darned sink marks! They are a pain in the randozo. They show up least and sometimes most where you don’t need them on New moldings. Oh, and they WILL show up on very old molds. It has to do with loss of pressure and uneven heat! Basically a sink mark is the captured essence of a short shot in that area!

This knife works great for putting putty in those spots! Try One! Oh! One, more thing, the blade tip is retractable like an older model Ball Point pen. The retract button being on the side very near the top button! Make sure you by an extra package of blades when you buy it! In my H.L they had two of the knives and one package of refills!

And they are tiny and weird looking. A large plastic top made for the inside of the pen and a very small blade. 5 To a pack!

I checked both Hobby Lobby and Hobby Town, but found only one retractable X-Acto knife, which didn’t seem to fit your description. What’s the model number?

Bob

Hi, Bobstamp;

Lucky for you, I still had the Blister packs. the Knife is X-Acto part # X-3209. and it’s priced at $14.99 plus tax. the blade pack is X-Acto part # X-209 and they are $10.99 plus tax. Of course use the regular 40% off weekly coupon on your Phone App!

They are in Black, Blue, and White packaging. Here’s a kicker. Guys and Gals should be advised-“Distributed by ELMERS PRODUCTS” Didn’t see that one coming did ya?

I am now officially blue in the face (not from Covid-19, but from searching, fruitlessly, for X-Acto part #X-3209. I have found lots of examples of part X-3208Q, which just seems to be a pocketable, retractible and otherwise ordinary X-Acto knife with a very sharp, pointy blade, but nothing like a chisel, not even one described as having a chisel blade but picturing a pointy blade. Shopping in the age of computers and pandemics is such fun! What a blast!

Hi Bob;

Hey, that’s why I find it first, Then look it up on line. I even have trouble on the “great” Shopping Sites when I ask for American Model Tools! Much Less Models of and By American companies. Don’t even ask how, but on some, you’ll be looking for say, Ships, and get cars, and even hunting gear gets in there!
