The Academy P 36 in 1/48th. Built OOB,Finished with Alclad ll (polished aluminum) and Gunze acrylics. A neat little kit, although the cockpit detail is non existent, (I added some from the spares box). Wing to fuselage was a challenge, and be forwarned, the engine is engineered too far back in the cowling, had to modify this but otherwise a very enjoyable build of the sire of the P-40.
Unfortunately, the P -36 will go down in history as a plane that will never acheive the fame of it’s big brother, the P-40. Few people realize that it was a P-36 that shot down the first Japanese aircraft during the Pearl Harbor attack.
