hey ausf............................

…this is the me109 that i did.

and this is what i did with it.

everything i told you was correct. the kit had bad fit, little detail, and was a headache. but with a little time and a little hardwork it can be a beautiful build.

and this is nmf.

hehe haha hehe haha (about as evil a laugh as i can muster at 2 am)
joe

Thanks Joe,
The Messerschmidt looks great, something for me to shoot for (or at).
The NMF…not me, no way. Luckily my attraction, however limited it may be, is to SBDs, Fw190s, Me109s and V1s, so I’d never come up against that beast.
Like I said, this is going to be fun…

Hey fightnjoe, I dont mean to jump in on this thread but when I read your post some of the things you mentioned about the 109 are the same problems I had when i did the Revell Spitfire II. Poor fits very little detail. The P40B was the same way. NOw the Mustang they have out is the much better. The plastic is much sturdier and there is much more detail. I dont know why they decided to use the weak plastic(sorry thats the best way I can describe it) for the other 2 models but they did. Wish I knew why Revell is putting out such poor models. Maybe they figure they are only catoring to the beginner modeller who doesn’t concern himself or herself with as much detail.

Just my 2 cents.

rich i dont know either but i agree whole hearted on the p-40b, i built it with the eduards cockpit set and it turned out decent. havent done the spitfire but then again i dont think i will be doing many revell fighters again. some of the bombers are the only ones that are available in the larger scales. to give an idea here is a shot of the p-40b…

joe

Well Revell bought Monogram (as how I understand it) and Monogram is of better quality. Revell is really for the more experienced because of lower quality. Ausf I feel real bad for ya LOL!!!. You all are going with older kits and they aren’t all that good. If you really wanna do them…take your time on them!!! Thats the best way. I am building Monograms B-17G Fortress for the monogram build and got to the point where I said ok enough is enough. It looks bad but then again I chose a monster to build first after being a way for 15 years. It’s not that bad…but it really isnt that good. Trust me on this, youll be a much better modeller for it, all the skills youll develope for handling all the bad stuff.
Ausf check that 109 for raised panels, if there is any then sand them off because its supposed to be recessed paneling on it. You’ll have to rescribe the whole model…if ya wanna be accurate, remember I am doing zim on my first tank [^][;)][alien]. Better get some scribers my friend, and a bottle of strong relaxers.

oo and guys its BF-109…not Me 109

I know what you mean by patience woodbeck and learning!! I think I used more filler putty on the P40 than I have ever used on any model or combination of models since.

Ha by the monogram b-17 then tell me that!!!

Joe, you could hang a hessian bag on a mannequin and make it look like a supermodel.

I used to build Monogram planes before I realised I was awful at it. Fit and detail are sort of important, but they pale next to the significance of the picture on the front of the box. man I loved those pictures.

matt i just have one question…whats a hessian bag?

joe

Whatever he wants.

Pardon my Australian dialect Joe. A hessian bag is bag made of very rough material that we put things like potatoes etc in.

Point being, I like your planes.

I think he means burlap joe.

ahhh i see. matt thanks. the way they look is more accidental than on purpose though. i have not had the luck working with these planes. i seem to get to certain points and then frustrations take over.

joe

awwww is making a wingy thingy hard…hmmmmm. Lost when ya cant find the tracks…hmmmmm. fustrating when you have have a buncha small barrels instead of one big one…hmmmmm. confusing when you have to use more then three colors on it…hmmmmm. [^]

woodbeck you have misunderstood. i have been building a/c for the better part of twenty years. seriously for the past six. i am however dabbling in the darkside.

joe

I know just a bad attempt at sarcastic humor…guess the dark side is getting to me.

Hey Joe, just thought I would post a pic of my P40B Like I said with the skills I have gained since I joined here I could probably overcome most of the short comings of this model, but It did help me get a litlle better at using putty thats for sure.

rich that looks awesome. well done on a difficult kit.

hey does this mean i have broken a rule of the forum. i mean here is an a/c thread in the armor forum.

joe

yes it does Joe. You are here by sentenced to 6 months on the dark side and only to talk about armor, no a/c stuff here. The only thread in the armor forum where you can talk about a/c is the plane build thread. [;)]
