Help with Sd. Kfz. 234/3

I have the Italeri kit since a looong time ago, in fact, that’s the very first armor kit I bought. I never started it because the lack of info for detailing the interior, BTW, it is still difficult to get good info. I used to have only one good pic, I think it was taken from a museum vehicle, because it was painted grey. Well, here’s the point: All the ejection pin marks are in the inner side, so they’re visible in this top-opened vehicle, filling them is a little difficult due to the moulded detail present in the form of bolted strips at each side of the “ditch” where the floor with the non-slip surface must be fitted (three at each side), those nasty marks are just in the middle of the strips. There is a posibility to get rid of them and here is where I need your help. Anyone has a Dragon Sd. Kfz. 234? it doesn’t matter the version, all four of them share the same lower hull. I think the Dragon kits doesn’t have those bolted strips, but I want to be sure. There are no close-up pictures of this in the net. If they don’t have them then I’ll remove them from my Italeri kit, so filling the ejection pin marks will be very easy. I hope you can help me. Thanks a lot in advance. Best regards.

They are going to have Group Build on eight-wheelers vehicles. I am sure that the guys can help you as they have posted several pictures of 234 in the forum. Check it out… maybe shoot your question in there.

It is not too late to join… I have joined. GB begins on Nov 1st and it is a perfect timing for you to join if you are interested. Good luck!

Hello,

The Dragon kits do not have the bolt strips that you are refering to. I have an Italeri and the Dragon 234’s, so I know what you are refering to. Actually, on the Italeri kit, were the bolt strips are, they sit on a “shelf” along the bottom edges of the hull. On the Dragon kits, the walls go all the way down to the floor, with no bolt strips anywere.

Hope this helps.

That’s it, thanks a lot! I’ll remove those strips and then I’ll start the detailing. Best regards.

I also have this kit which I bought back in the late 80’s and still haven’t built. I just picked up Eduard PE set #35253 on ebay for about $11. This set has alot of additional details that greatly improve this particular eight wheeled model. This Eduard set is discontinued but pops up on ebay now and then.
