Before we continue, In Australia we spell the word colour with a “u”
I’m having some problems with the above colour brand
The first time I used them I thinned them like Tamiya acrylics and was to thin, so the next time I used a minimal amount and this seemed to work better. The paint still looks to thick though.
Cleaning out of my Patriot air-gun is proving to be problematic. I’ve tried water and does’nt clean the gun out sufficiently , Lifecolour thinner(to expensive to use frequently for the amount needed is and lacquer thinner, this just made the paint look like curdled milk.
Any help on these 2 fronts would be greatly appreciated.
I thin LifeColor with windshield washer fluid. I’d say about 60% paint to 40% thinner. It will go on nice nd smooth. You will need to build up layers though. I use Windex (blue colored household window cleaner) for the cleaning of my airbrush.
I thin Life color slightly with a mix of distilled water and Liquitex flow aid. A club member told me he shoots it straight, no thinning. I have not yet tried shooting it straight.
“and lacquer thinner, this just made the paint look like curdled milk” Yeah, I have heard this from others who tried lacquer thinner.
To clean my air brush I use a mixture of 1/3 distilled water, 1/3 Windex ( I think you call it windowlean?) and 1/3 simple green which is a bio degradable degreaser, I have no idea if you can get it down in your parts.
Like the other poster said, I have found I have to build it up in thin coats. But once on you can mask over it with no worries.
Thanks professordeath and kirk4010 for the tips. The Lifecoour paints certainly do finish beautifully. I did spray it straight from the bottle and did produce a good finish, but at first it looked like splatter then in settled after a minute or so.
Yes I’ve already got a bottle of simple green and don’t know why I didn’t think of that before. I will most certainly also try windex.
In conclusion, I really like the finish of the life color and the color choices are varied.
