Help with Flory's Promodeller Washes

I am weathering a Hasegawa F-16CJ Osan. The order of painting was Primer, Preshading, Painting, Glossy, Decals, Flat Finish.

I applied Promodeller “Dark Wash” and I am having trouble #1, removing it , #2 getting adequate panel line fill, and #3 having the model just look overall messy. There are splotches here and there, and it just kinda looks like someone spilled coffee on it.

The panel lines are not as prominent as I’d hoped.

Is this because I used this on a flat finish? Where am I going wrong with this? Seems like a great product.

Thanks

Did you apply the wash last, over the flat overcoat? Per the Flory videos on youtube, applying over flat makes for a more weathered final finish.

A flat coating is ‘rougher’ than a glossy smooth finish, giving the wash pigments more irregularities to fill. The wash is water soluble, maybe a bit of water and a rag or paper towel will clean it up a bit more.

On the panel lines, lots of layers of prep, might have filled them mostly in prior to weathering. Hope this helps.
