I’ve purchased a 105 a couple of months ago and I’ve only just put it through it’s paces. In the past I’ve only ever used Aztek airbrushes so the Badger is all new to me. I hope some of you use the 105. The questions I’ve got are:
How do I stop paint running out from the tip?
what does the knob that turns left/right do?
I want to be able to shoot air out only then choose how much paint I want to disperse for molting camo purposes.
Why don’t you visit my website. There is a page on the Patriot that might help you out. Also, check out the Basic Stuff page. You need to loosen the needle chuck and seat the needle all the way forward in the tip. This is something that was not needed on the Aztek. The Patriot is a great airbrush.
If you are getting paint leakage at the nozzle tip when the trigger is in the rest/closed position, it sounds as if the needle isn’t fully seated.
If you are referring to the knurled knob within the handle cutout, this is the needle chuck (lock nut) which isn’t adjusted during “normal” use. If you have loosened this and then moved the needle, it may result in the needle not being fully seated. To reset, simply loosen this, press the “ball” end of the needle in gently and then retighten the needle chuck.
If you are getting paint flow immediately when you depress the trigger, this would also indicate that the needle is not fully seated. Depressing the trigger without drawing back should only be shooting air.
Take the steps above and see if this remedies the problem.
Was the Patriot taken apart and re-assembled by you before using it? Or it leaked at the tip as is from the factory the first time you used it?
Is it possible that dry paint was left on the needle tip from previous painting session? This could prevent the proper seal of the needle/nozzle contact to result in what you experienced.
Mine came with an “instruction book” with an exposed picture of the airbrush parts and parts number. The instruction of operation and cleaning should be pretty easy to follow because the parts number were called out in the instruction. Try a thorough cleaning and re-assembly to see how it works.
Hi guys, Thanks for the great advise. will go ahead this weekend and try all the above mentioned. When I got the airbrush, I couldn’t help myself and did fiddle around with some of the parts. But I didn’t take it apart. so hopefully this should solve my problems. will keep you updated.
