Hey everyone this is my first post on the forums and im after some help with selecting a aircraft model to construct. ive built about 5 models before (not painted) but it was a few years back so im not after something too difficult but i dnt mind a challenge and i have a lot of spare time on my hands. Im a fan of world war 2 planes and modern jets. what are some accurate model kits out there? and id also like to start painting (with brushes for now, airbrush a little expensive for me atm) so what would i need to purchase to do this apart from the basic paint and brushes? Just stating out, your essentials are going to be, obviously, glue, paint, brushes, knife, blades…I’d also pick up a pack of Testors sanding films, for cleaning up your seams, CA(superglue). I’m sure you’ll get plenty more items from others.
For picking your kit. If you really want to start painting with a brush, I’d start small, with something in 1/72. Another route you could go (the way I started painting) pick a plane that is one solid color. Kinda tough to find for WW2, but you could find an overall blue Navy bird, and pick up a spraycan of dark blue($3/$4). My first 30-40 models were done with spraycans.

Welcome to the Forums. [t$t] [dto:] above. Russian MIG-3 in 1/72 is also a good starter build. It is all white with a light blue bottom. Not too many parts. Easy build.
